wow, so sleeping is totally overrated. this last bunch of photoshoots to edit have really put my skills to the test. what a blast this season has been and a great way to finish off 2009. i've loved getting to know new clients and watching previous family's one year older. i'm ready to enjoy my holiday vacation and can't wait to live through gage and josie as they experience christmas. thanks for a successful holiday season of photoshoots, looking forward to working with you again.

this season has proved to be another crazy one. i've loved getting to know new family's and then seeing how loyal my former clients are to let me update their pictures again. this was an especially meaningful shoot for me because without knowing it beforehand i realized that trevor and i grew up in the same neighborhood together. he scored big time with such a cute family. i love the individual shots of the kids because i was able to trap them in that barrel so they wouldn't run off.

so now you have all these lovely pictures... different angles, some of kids, individuals, just mom and dad, or a variety of wedding shots. here's what i did. i cut pieces of paper to replicate (to scale, i used cm) the collage i wanted. so i took my six different pieces of paper and played around with them on the floor, i'm not much of an interior designer but this is what i came up with, i googled "wall collages" to see other examples, too. from there i wrote what picture i wanted for each size, and then uploaded to them to my printing site that i use. you can certainly use frames, i just wanted a more gallery look.

i've been saying that i've wanted to use this blog for more than just posting client pics, and i've yet to write anything on my mind.
soooo i've really been trying to define my style. here i'll show you something that is so simple, and have given my pictures a boost. i'll take a picture that i like, play with curves (s-curve) and levels (add more blacks), warm it up, and then give it a good sharpen. wahlaaa, simple and natural. keeping things simple has really been appealing to me lately.

i love the help i received in creating this year's christmas card templates. after you decide on your favorite picture, we can throw it into one of these templates -badabing badaboom - presto - your christmas cards are finished. they are 5x7 double sided and printed on beautiful high-quality cards (glossy, pearl, or matte finish) that include the envelope. i'm keeping my prices the same as last year... $2 a card.

i hate neglecting my blog, we just got back from the annual idaho/utah trip. i married an idaho boy so visiting the in-laws means amazing weather and gorgious mountains. the weather was pretty much perfection. i'm excited to be back to real life though, i get to work on my new skills tomorrow with a senior photoshoot. can't wait! i'm working on putting together my holiday specials, so if you decide to email me before i put up my next post i will give you my new specials... early.

mentoring session

i feel like my brain is going to explode!! Information Overload! the oh-so-talented jill spent the day with me divulging all of her expertise. we started out with a practice photoshoot of my sister, raquel and her hubby and then moved into a one on one q & a. needless to say i totally loved it. chistmas x10! she told me to come up with 3 words to describe my style. i've really done some soul searching on what defines my style of photography. this has been really difficult because i feel like i'm still trying to figure it out. this session with jill really helped me try to find what appeals to me though. this is what i've come up with so far: i love having the picture look "Natural", and love to see "Emotion", but I want to see some kind of "vintage" appeal. from now on you might see a shift in the style of my pictures. I want them to define my style more than just conforming to what i "think" my client wants.

this blog was mostly created to give clients a "sneak peak" before their photoshoot was edited and complete. yet, now i am rethinking how i want to use this blog. i still want to give clients a way to look at some of their pics, but now i want to get to know you (yes, i have a web counter) and perhaps let you know more about me. i also want to include anything that intrigues or inspires me. i love getting inspiration from other bloggers and now i want to give back.

Sometimes I like to have the newborns all done up with accessories, while other times, I love the simplicity of their perfect bare skin to show off. The expression on the second photo could be my favorite one I've ever shot. Those pouty lips are to die for.
